How it works

A semester, run remotely

Everything below happens on the academic calendar. Online means you choose the hours, not that the deadlines move.

Semester-paced, not self-paced

Content is released against the academic calendar and assignments have real deadlines. You study at the hours that suit you, on a timetable that keeps a whole cohort together — which is what makes the degree a degree.

Course material as modules and units

Every course arrives as modules broken into study units, each with its reading, activities and self-assessment. You always know what the next hour of study is, and how much of the course is behind you.

Live facilitation, not just recordings

Scheduled sessions with a facilitator each week, plus the recording afterwards for the week you cannot make it. Questions get answered by the person marking your work.

Assessment through the semester

Tutor-marked assignments carry continuous assessment and are submitted online. Your standing is visible as you go rather than arriving all at once at the end.

Examinations supervised in person

Final examinations are sat under supervision at a published venue. That is the regulator's requirement in this market, and it is what makes the qualification the same qualification.

One student record, one transcript

Registration, results, GPA, CGPA and your transcript run on the same machinery as the campus programmes. Nothing on the certificate says you studied at a distance.

A week in the semester

What the rhythm actually is

  • Material is released

Each week’s study units unlock on the schedule your department published for the semester. Nothing is held back arbitrarily, and nothing arrives before you can use it.

  • You work through it when you can

Units are written to be read and worked offline once downloaded, so an unreliable connection costs you a download rather than a week.

  • A facilitator takes a live session

One scheduled session per course per week, recorded. The person taking it is the person who marks your assignments.

  • Assignments close on their deadline

Tutor-marked assignments are submitted online and carry your continuous assessment. Completing them is also what counts as attendance — there is no roll-call to miss.

In person

Examinations are supervised in person

Teaching and continuous assessment run online. Final examinations are sat under supervision at a venue the institution publishes with the academic calendar.

And then the examination

The examination carries the larger share of the mark and is sat in person under supervision. Everything before it is designed so you arrive knowing what you are walking into.
